My Co-Costume Designer, Adelaide Ragan, and I worked on the costumes for graduate film Machine of Quiet Killing, directed by Raphael Allason.
We developed the costumes to be very stripped back, to convey a cold vulnerability in the characters. As we progressed, we utilised breakdown to indicate the pressure the characters were under from their own conflict, and from the pressure of the Machine itself. The film consisted of two characters, and one costume for each, though we had multiple versions of each costume for the various stages of breakdown. We sourced some items from the AUB Costume Store, aswell as charity shops, and online.
