Re-designing costumes of Stephen Frears' 1988 Dangerous Liaisons, working from Christopher Hampton's screenplay. This project allowed me to explore historical design, specifically 18th century France. This included designing on the stand, and producing a mini mannequin of Merteuil. Adobe Illustrator allowed me to create a pattern to then laser cut and print onto the bodice.
Les Liaisons Dangereuses (1782), was originally written by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. It was also adapted as a play by Christopher Hampton. It tells the tale of two wicked individuals, bathing in luxury and wealth, who scheme and plot against the other characters, to humiliate them, soiling their reputations, for their own amusement.
